Finding Time
Materials
Egg timers, cooking timers, an hour glass, stop watches, wrist watches, alarm clocks, wall clocks, calendars, a metronome and anything else used to tell time.
Preparation
Hide as many time keeping devices as possible around the room. Set the alarm clocks to go off sometime during the session. Wind the egg timers up so that they are ticking but then hide them so that they can only be found by sound.
Activity
Have a "time" scavenger hunt where kids must write down the locations fo everything they can find in the room related to time.
Debrief
1. What are the things that you have to "find time" for each week?
2. Why is finding time difficult?
3. What happens when time runs out in life?
4. How can you make better choices and find time for the things in life God wants you to do?
5. What alarms have gone off in your own life as reminders of your time and using it in a worthwhile way?
Added Object Lesson
Have each youth place a small colored dot on their watch as a reminder that our time on earth is comparatively short and we need to live it for God. Everytime the notice the colored dot the should pray that God will show them how to best use their time for his Kingdom today. Whenever anyone asks them about the dot they should use the opportunity to tell them about their desite to live every moment for Christ!
