I think that I shall never see
\nA church that’s all it ought to be.
\nA church whose members never stray
\nBeyond the straight and narrow way.<\/p>\n

A church that has no empty pews
\nWhose pastor never has the blues.
\nA church whose deacons always deak
\nAnd none are proud and all are meek.<\/p>\n

Where gossips never peddle lies
\nOr make complaints or criticize
\nWhere all are always sweet and kind
\nAnd all to others’ faults are blind.<\/p>\n

Such perfect churches there may be
\nBut none of them are known to me.
\nBut still I’ll work and pray and plan
\nTo make our church the best I can.<\/p>\n
