{"id":495,"date":"2008-08-28T03:01:30","date_gmt":"2008-08-28T03:01:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.creativeyouthideas.com\/resources\/?p=495"},"modified":"2021-04-08T20:08:09","modified_gmt":"2021-04-08T12:08:09","slug":"put-on-the-full-armor-of-god","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.creativeyouthideas.com\/resources\/creative-teaching-ideas\/put-on-the-full-armor-of-god\/","title":{"rendered":"Put on the Full Armor of God"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Using Ephesians 6:13-18 give youth a few minutes to list the &#8220;six&#8221; pieces of spiritual equipment and then rewrite the analogy from a new perspective as below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Getting Started<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>List the six pieces of equipment in the passage<\/li>\n<li>Write a short one sentence description for the purpose or use of each item listed.<\/li>\n<li>Rewrite Ephesians 6 using the new analogy provided: (Give each group a different analogy to use) They will need to identify each new piece of equipment and how it relates to the Christian walk.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Here are some possibilities for fresh analogies:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Firefighter<\/li>\n<li>Astronaut<\/li>\n<li>Football player<\/li>\n<li>Tennis player<\/li>\n<li>Blacksmith<\/li>\n<li>Cook\/ Chef<\/li>\n<li>Orchestra Conductor<\/li>\n<li>Race Car Driver<\/li>\n<li>Policeman<\/li>\n<li>Baseball Player<\/li>\n<li>Fighter Pilot<\/li>\n<li>Tank Driver<\/li>\n<li>Construction Worker<\/li>\n<li>Doctor<\/li>\n<li>Dentist<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are lots of options&#8230;. and looking at the equipment from a fresh perspective often brings out some really nice insights.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the original 6 pieces of equipment for the passage:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Belt &#8211; Truth<\/li>\n<li>Breastplate &#8211; Righteousness<\/li>\n<li>Shoes &#8211; Gospel of Peace<\/li>\n<li>Shield &#8211; Faith<\/li>\n<li>Helmet &#8211; Salvation<\/li>\n<li>Sword &#8211; Word of God<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Example of using a new analogy &#8211; Fire Fighter<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Infrared goggles &#8211; Allow the firefighter to see the heat spots and know truth of the situation<\/li>\n<li>Oxygen Mask &#8211; protects his breathing &#8211; Like the holy spirit in us<\/li>\n<li>Boots &#8211; Gives him good footing and allows him to rescue others<\/li>\n<li>Fireproof suit &#8211; shields him from the fire<\/li>\n<li>Helmet &#8211; protects head<\/li>\n<li>Fire hose &#8211; helps him to put out fires of deception so that he can get to the truth<\/li>\n<li>Axe &#8211; helps him to cut away barriers and blockages so he can rescue others<\/li>\n<li>Ladder &#8211; helps him to reach places normally out of reach<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Addition Questions for discussion:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Why are only 6 pieces of equipment listed?<\/li>\n<li>Is there something you feel is missing from this list?<\/li>\n<li>Are all these pieces of equipment necessary?<\/li>\n<li>Which piece of equipment is most useful in your own Christian walk?<\/li>\n<li>Which piece of equipment do you most often neglect?<\/li>\n<li>How can having these 6 pieces of equipment help you to live a more victorious Christian life?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><center><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.creativeyouthideas.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/0004_underline1_big-300x15.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"5\" \/><\/center><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.creativeobjectlessons.com\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"floatimgright alignright\" style=\"border: 0px;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.creativeobjectlessons.com\/objectlessons_sm.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"112\" height=\"134\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><span style=\"color: #cc0000;\"><strong>MORE IDEAS?
