A tape player and blues music are optional.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Role Cards<\/strong><br \/>\nPrint the following &#8220;roles&#8221; on 3X5 cards. Not all options may be suitable so use your own discretion.<br \/>\n* Business and home were lost in a flood.<br \/>\n* Home and all belongings were destroyed in a fire.<br \/>\n* Family was killed in an auto accident<br \/>\n* Home was burglarized.<br \/>\n* Family member is dying of cancer<br \/>\n* Father Lost his job a week before Christmas.<br \/>\n* Failed all your examinations<br \/>\n* Best friend died in a freak accident<br \/>\n* You are being forced to leave Singapore<br \/>\n* Your brother died during an National Service drill<br \/>\n* You mother was hospitalized and can&#8217;t afford the bills<br \/>\n* Your sister was raped.<\/p>\n<p>For a little humor you could include:<br \/>\n* You ran out of toilet paper<br \/>\n* Your goldfish died<br \/>\n* You were stood up on date<\/p>\n<p>Think of a different role for each student; or simply repeat.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Activity<\/strong><br \/>\nForm a circle. Walk among the youth and tape a role card on each person&#8217;s back so that others may read the role. Say: &#8220;I&#8217;m giving you each a role to play although you don&#8217;t know what it is. I will tell you that each of you has become the victim of some sort of disaster&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>For a few minutes, let youth mingle and role play, treating each other as if they were really in the designated circumstances, but without revealing the roles. You may wish to play some blues music.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Discussion<\/strong><br \/>\n1. What was your initial reaction to your situation?<br \/>\n2. What are some feelings that you might have under these circumstances? Explain.<br \/>\n3. How might you feel toward other people? toward God?<br \/>\n4. How did others respond to you in your activity?<br \/>\n5. Were the reactions realistic? Why or why not?<br \/>\n6. How did their words make you feel?<br \/>\n7. Why is it difficult to trust God in hard times?<br \/>\n8.
