{"id":8919,"date":"2013-01-12T13:51:26","date_gmt":"2013-01-12T05:51:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.creativeyouthideas.com\/resources\/?p=8919"},"modified":"2013-01-12T13:55:07","modified_gmt":"2013-01-12T05:55:07","slug":"having-failed-myself","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.creativeyouthideas.com\/resources\/devotional\/having-failed-myself\/","title":{"rendered":"Having Failed Myself"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>&#8220;Having Failed Myself&#8221;<br \/>\nBy Bob Perks<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>By some statistics many who made resolutions for the new year<br \/>\nhave already failed at some if not all of them.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m here to remind you that&#8217;s okay.<\/p>\n<p>Failure is an event not a person.<\/p>\n<p>We put way too much emphasis on the first day of the new year<br \/>\nanyway.<\/p>\n<p>As for setting goals, we also place too much on the first day of<br \/>\nthe month or Mondays.<\/p>\n<p>I remember when I was in sales, we struggled with getting people<br \/>\nto commit to something as we got closer to the holidays each year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Well, let me think about it.\u00a0 Call me after the holidays.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Then there was vacation time.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As soon as I get back from vacation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The truth is, most people spend more time planning their vacations<br \/>\nthan they do planning their life.<\/p>\n<p>We are all procrastinators in some way.<\/p>\n<p>So, when is a good time to begin?<\/p>\n<p>How about right now?<\/p>\n<p>Whatever resolution you may have failed to keep can be started again<br \/>\nand again, at any time if it is for all the right reasons.<\/p>\n<p>Whether it be a change in diet, attitude, exercise, finances,<br \/>\nrelationships or simply to read more, play more, rest more,<br \/>\nthere is no better time to begin than right now.<\/p>\n<p>Obviously, you have chosen something that you believe in.\u00a0 By failing<br \/>\nto follow through on that belief you may be revealing the real truth.<\/p>\n<p>You don&#8217;t believe in yourself enough to make it happen.<\/p>\n<p>Now is the time to begin.<\/p>\n<p>Permit me to ask you this question.<\/p>\n<p>If you had failed God in any way when should you ask for forgiveness<br \/>\nand change your ways?<\/p>\n<p>Monday?\u00a0 The first of the month? After vacation? After you do it wrong<br \/>\na few more times just to get it out of your system?<\/p>\n<p>No!\u00a0 God would want you to do it now.<\/p>\n<p>What you failed to accomplish in these first days of the new year may<br \/>\nnot be an actual sin against God.\u00a0 Still, He wants you to be happy, to<br \/>\nthrive, and to be all you can be.<\/p>\n<p>So, if those changes, those resolutions you made would make you a better<br \/>\nyou, isn&#8217;t that what God expects of you?<\/p>\n<p>When you were born He made the best possible you.<\/p>\n<p>He then expected you to live up to it and grow into the plans He had for<br \/>\nyou from the very beginning.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the best part.\u00a0 Everyday that you wake up He gives you another<br \/>\nchance to begin again.\u00a0 He closes the door on yesterday and opens<br \/>\nthe door to today.<\/p>\n<p>You know what you have to do.\u00a0 You know why you should.\u00a0 You also know that<br \/>\nyou can.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not just another day, it&#8217;s another chance.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I believe in you!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><em>by Bob Perks<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Bob is an Inspirational Columnist for Beliefnet<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/author\/author_148.html\">http:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/author\/author_148.html<\/a><br \/>\nand you can visit his site at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bobperks.com\/\">http:\/\/www.BobPerks.com<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Failure is an event not a person.
